Interesting, I live just about 8 kilometers from Long Pond Distillery. Sadly, its a bit run down and now produces lame distilled alcohol white-sorry excuses for rum.
Bought a bottle just this weekend ( May 2014). Absolutely thrilled. It is just awesome to own a spirit distilled so long ago. Will I ever open it though?
“Who would buy such a thing?” I wrote, “And, having bought it, who would dare open it?”. I confess that my own personal bottle remains sealed (I wrote the review on the basis of a second bottle which was opened already), and I’m saving it for a special occasion.
Perhaps that’s the only time when something this old and rare should ever be cracked – for a graduation, a birth, a great achievement…something like that. And I know that when I do, there will be friends around me and the occasion will be a good one.
Sincere congratulations on your purchase. Let me know what you think when you finally pop the cork and take your first taste.
